and spent 2+ years on sprint w/a rooted phone and had zero issues other than needing to do manual upgrades whenever a new version of android came out. I rooted my evo to get better battery life. Speaking from experience, I highly recommend rooting. Had to go outside to get a data signal, but otherwise moving over was a breeze. Soon I will be flashing back to 4.3.3 or similar I think. It was rooted with Fresh Evo 4.3.3, but prior to moving over I flashed the stock 4.3.3 ROM back onto it. I moved my Evo 4g (regular, not LTE) over to ting without any issue at all. Step 8 - Reboot into your custom recovery and restore your backup image onto your phone.

Step 7 - Reboot using power vol-down into hboot again and let it install your custom recovery. Step 6 - Copy the PC36IMG.zip from step 1 onto your SD card. Step 5 - Reboot and then use the keypad to do your carrier wipe from this page: Let it reboot several times. You have your custom recovery saved from step 1, right? THIS WILL OVERWRITE YOUR CUSTOM RECOVERY. Step 4 - Reboot your EVO 4G into HBOOT with power and vol-down and let it install the stock ROM. Step 3 - Download and save PC36IMG.zip of the STOCK ROM from here: You do not need the S-ON. Step 2 - Boot into your custom recover and make a backup. Save PC36IMG.zip of your custom recovery on your PC for later. Step 1 - Upgrade your custom recovery and have an image of your custom recovery for you to re-install. You do not need to go all the way to S-ON. In brief what worked for me is that I needed to install a stock rom without the custom recovery to allow the # commands to work from the dial pad. Here is what I had to do to move my EVO 4g over to TING when I had a custom ROM and recovery installed: It add the "Panoramic Picture" setting which works great on GB ROMs. Oh, and don't forget to do a Nandroid back up BEFORE you flash the HTC Sense ROM to you can restore "The.Emilio" after you have MMS working.īy the way, for the camera, I like using Camera ICS. Otherwise the "Dial #3282# (#DATA#)" commands will not work. Just make sure you are still on an unrooted HTC Sense Stock ROM. If this does not fix your MMS, contact Ting.
One thing you will have to do it to flash back to an HTC Sense Stock ROM (that is unrooted of course so you don't have to unroot again.) Here are instructions specifically for the Evo 4G for fixing MMS for Ting. Regarding your MMS issue, I do not use MMS at all.
